Banana festival
A visual identity that went bananas!
Did you know Crete produces bananas?
In fact, Cretans are so proud of them that there is a whole banana festival which takes place in Arvi every August. And we had the pleasure of designing its visual communication.
We created a whole-rounded communication approach, including the festival logo, illustrations, print & merch material, stands, paper coasters, social media content, festival flag garlands, and, of course, huge banners hanging on the highway bridges around Crete.
The list goes on.
There aren't many places around the world that get to enjoy bananas with a next to zero carbon footprint. This fact adds immensely to our sense of pride for this amazing local product.
And since bananas already have such a strong identity on a global scale, we decided to add a not so widely spread, but equally strong, Cretan touch.
Big, loud, and proud Cretan musicians, warm-hearted grannies, and sun-scorched fishermen came together under a festive, energizing palette.
Designed in clean shapes and exaggerated forms, the illustrations highlight the bright yellow of our main star, framing it with the unmistakable Cretan identity.
